Non-recognized higher education (private)

[Article 9 of the Act of 15 December 1980]

A non-EU national who wishes to follow a training programme provided by a higher education institution that is neither recognised by the competent authority, nor authorised to organise a higher education study programme, nor authorised to award the corresponding titles, academic degrees, diplomas and certificates, does not have student status within the meaning of Articles 58, 60 and following of the Act of 15 December 1980.

However, this foreign national may apply for authorisation to stay in Belgium for more than 90 days at the Belgian diplomatic or consular post competent for the place where he or she resides or stays abroad. (First authorisation to stay)
